Newsweek Retracts Story on Koran Desecration

From editor Mark Whitaker:

"Based on what we know now, we are retracting our original story that an internal military investigation had uncovered Koran abuse at Guantanamo Bay."

I'd call that a very terse statement.

Do you get the feeling Whitaker didn't want to release that? I do.

Clearer heads at Newsweek most likely prevailed and insisted that they stop digging themselves into a deeper hole.
