Americans for Prosperity: Absentee Ballots - The Facts

The Democrats and their Leftist media mouthpieces have been foaming at the mouth about the sinister "mistake" on absentee ballots sent out by Americans for Prosperity.

They claim it was an intentional, sleazy means to suppress the vote.

Here are some FACTS on what happened:

(Do you remember "facts"? They used to matter.)

1. Fixing the Typo

The Absentee Ballot Mailing was mailed only to AFP Wisconsin members in the eight Senate Districts that have recall elections. The date included on the absentee ballot application (August 11th) was intended solely for the two senate districts with elections on August 16th. However, the printer/mail house sent that version out to all districts, including those that have elections on August 9th.

While the Left is hoping to make this into a voter suppression issue, this is anything but. It is in AFP’s best interest to have all of our members vote and that was the intention of this mailing. Here is a statement from AFP Wisconsin State Director Matt Seaholm explaining the printing mistake.

AFP sent the ballots to its own members.

In effect, the typo hurt themselves.

It makes absolutely no sense that AFP would try to suppress the vote of its members.

It's ridiculous to scream about voter suppression. The media are doing a dismal job of covering this story. The headline should read: "Americans for Prosperity mistake could hurt conservatives in recall elections."

Furthermore, "AFP-Wisconsin is directly addressing this mistake by sending out a call to each and every individual on the mailing list to clarify the date of the elections."

Voter suppression? Corruption?

NO WAY.

2. DNC Makes Similar Error

The media is largely ignoring the fact that the DNC made a similar mistake -the DNC placed robo calls last week to voters in Republican Sen. Dan Kapanke's western Wisconsin district urging them to vote in the election, but wrongly gave the date as Aug. 16. Click here to read more about the DNC’s robo call errors.

This DNC error isn't getting much media attention at all.

Why? Why isn't this error being cited as voter suppression?

Where's the outrage?

Cue the crickets.

3. Wisconsin Jobs Now and Citizen Action Wisconsin

Perhaps the most egregious offender of all in this story is Wisconsin Jobs Now and Citizen Action Wisconsin, which is also being largely ignored. Wisconsin Jobs Now has been hosting “block parties” with free food and then busing people over to early voting.

Wisconsin Jobs Now is connected to Citizen Action, a union group that has spent big money supporting Sandy Pasch in the District 8 recall election. It just so happens Sandy Pasch sits on Citizen Action's board as well.

Here's the corruption.

Give me a break!

It appears that Sandy Pasch and her campaign are engaged in dirty politics.

There's a world of difference between the tactics of Wisconsin Jobs Now and AFP sending a ballot with a typo to its own members.

I'm not surprised that Pasch and the Democrats and the union hacks would spin the AFP mistake the way they are.

Pasch's remarks on the mistake are idiotic.

Unfortunately, I'm also not surprised that the media are happily spreading misinformation as well.

The Democrat-Union-Media Complex chugs along.

Come on, TMJ4! Give your viewers the truth, not what you want them to believe.

Anders Behring Breivik has been arrested in the deadly Norway attacks.

He's reportedly a "Christian fundamentalist with right-wing tendencies."

Good news for the liberal media!

From Bloomberg:

A 32-year-old Norwegian man was arrested on the island of Utoeya, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Oslo, and authorities have begun interrogating the suspect, police said at a press briefing today. The same person is likely behind the bombing and the shootings on the island, they said. The suspect’s name is Anders Behring Breivik, local media reported. Police declined to confirm the suspect’s name.

The man has been charged on two counts of “dangerous crime to society,” which means he could be sentenced to 21 years in prison, Norway’s toughest punishment, Roger Andresen, deputy Oslo police chief, told reporters today. The man is a Christian fundamentalist with right-wing tendencies, Andresen said.

The blond-haired 32-year-old appears to have set up accounts on the social networking sites Facebook and Twitter just a few days ago.

Although police have not officially named Breivik as the suspect, Norwegian media identified him as the gunman. Police say the suspect is talking to police and was keen to "explain himself".

Eyewitness reports from the island of Utoya, where the shootings took place, have also described a tall, blond haired, blue-eyed Norwegian man dressed as a police officer.

On the Facebook page attributed to him, Mr Breivik describes himself as a Christian and a conservative. It listed his interests as hunting, body building and freemasonry. His profile also listed him as single. The page has since been taken down.

Police chief Svinung Sponheim said that internet posting by Breivik suggested he has "some political traits directed toward the right, and anti-Muslim views".

Blond, blue eyes, Right-winger, with anti-Muslim views - Breivik is a dream come true for the lib media!

It just doesn't get better than this!

...The Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang quoted a friend as saying that the suspect turned to right-wing extremism when in his late 20s. The newspaper also said that he participated in online forums expressing strong nationalistic views.

A Twitter account attributed to the suspect has also emerged but it only has one post, which is a quote from the philosopher John Stuart Mill: "One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100,000 who have only interests."

The killer behind Friday's bloodletting in Norway is a boyishly handsome, blond-haired anti-Islamic nationalist interested in politics, violent video games and the T.V. show "Dexter."

Anders Behring Breivik, a 32-year-old Norwegian national, claims to be a fan of Winston Churchill, classical music, and gory movies like, "300," and "Gladiator," on his Facebook page.

He also claims on the page to be a fan of the sappy HBO vampire drama, "True Blood," and the serial killer show, "Dexter."

Breivik, who was reportedly a Free Mason at one time, has been fingered for the dual attacks that claimed more than 7 lives in the capitol of Oslo, and 80 campers on the island youth retreat of Utoya.

...The shooter belongs to "right-wing circles" in Oslo, the city in which he resides, according to Norwegian TV2. Meanwhile, The Huffington Post cites the Swedish news site Expressen as saying that he is a "self-described nationalist who has also written a number of posts critical of Islam."

He studied at the Oslo Commerce School, an instituion devoted to business and financial management.

In published photos, the alleged killer is shown to don a half smile, preppy clothing, and piercing green eyes that stare into the camera.

...On his Facebook page, Breivik describes himself as a fan of shoot-em'-up video games like "Modern Warefare 2," as well as the fantasy epic, "World of Warcraft."

Perfect!

As more is learned about Breivik and his background, do you think American leaders and officials will bend over backwards to insist that Breivik's horrific rampage is not to be taken as a reflection on Christian fundamentalists or those with conservative views?

Will they warn against a backlash against conservatives?

Will their concern be with people lashing out violently against those with blond hair and blue eyes?

Will they say that the millions of "Modern Warfare" and "World of Warcraft" players should not be considered potential mass murderers?

My guess is no, not a chance.

No way.

Breivik is allegedly a mass murderer, a cold-blooded killer. He allegedly committed heinous acts.

My heart goes out to the families and friends of his victims, and all those affected by the rampage.

Without question, Breivik is to be condemned. This intentional slaughter of innocents is absolutely barbaric. The perpetrator is a monster.

And his profile is what it is.

I just hope that your Mayor Michael Bloomberg types and Leftists in the media emphasize how important it is not to paint blue-eyed (or green-eyed), blond, Christian, conservatives with a broad brush.

Anger over the massacre must not be directed toward blond, blue-eyed conservatives.

Where are the admonitions against profiling the blond and the blue-eyed, the Christian and conservative, the gamers and Winston Churchill admirers?

New York Times Reader Kills Dozens in Norway

Rick Santorum and Dan Savage

Dan Savage, founder of the "It Gets Better Project," exposed his hypocrisy when he went on a hate-filled rant during his appearance on Friday's Real Time with Bill Maher.

In addition to asserting, "I wish [Republicans] were all f---ing dead," Savage made some despicable comments about Rick Santorum after Marc Maron had blasted Michelle Bachmann and her husband, Marcus.

MARC MARON: I don't want to be crass, but I just hope that Marcus Bachmann takes all that, you know, that rage that comes from repression and denial and brings it into the bedroom with her. I hope he f---s her angrily, because, because that's how I would. And I've thought about it. It's a political statement I'm trying to make.

DAN SAVAGE: Just so you don't get charges of sexism because only Michele Bachmann was involved, I sometimes think about the f---ing the sh-- out of Rick Santorum, just 'cause I think he needs it. It's not just women we're talking about f---ing. It's like, let's bone that Santorum. I'd go for whipping up some Santorum in Santorum.

Do these sound like the sort of comments that would come from someone wanting to spread peace, love, and understanding?

Savage wants everyone to take the "It Gets Better" pledge.

"Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are. I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors. I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors. I'll speak up against hate and intolerance whenever I see it, at school and at work."

Clearly, Savage does NOT believe in showing respect. He doesn't speak up against hate and intolerance.

To the contrary, Savage is a purveyor of hate.

There's no question that a double standard exists in the liberal media.

Leftists like Savage get a pass when it comes to spewing hate.

Thaddeus McCotter 2012

Over the weekend, Thaddeus McCotter announced his run for the presidency.

If the election were held today, and the race was between McCotter and Obama, I would vote for McCotter in less than a heartbeat.

I would like to see him win the nomination. He certainly would make a terrific vice presidential nominee.

In any event, I think McCotter will play a significant role in shaping the Republican candidates' dialogue. That's a good thing.

Moreover, the Leftist media will have to contend with McCotter's discussion of substantive issues rather than dwelling on their unfair characterizations of Mitt Romney the Ken doll or Michele Bachmann the flake or Newt Gingrich the serial groom.

The Republicans' chances in 2012 took a giant leap forward with McCotter's decision to run.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's voice of sanity is leaving the newspaper.

Patrick McIlheran is joining Senator Ron Johnson's staff.

Patrick McIlheran, a columnist for the Journal Sentinel's op-ed page since 2004, is leaving the newspaper this week to take a job with Republican Sen. Ron Johnson's staff.

McIlheran, who will work out of Johnson's Washington, D.C., office, will research issues and write about them for the senator. McIlheran also will work for the Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management, the Federal Workforce, and the District of Columbia, of which Johnson is the ranking member.

McIlheran's last column for the paper is scheduled to be published Sunday.

This is a good news/bad news thing.

McIlheran will be an asset for Johnson, and in turn, the Wisconsinites that Johnson represents.

Unfortunately, Southeastern Wisconsin is losing an important conservative voice with McIlheran's departure.

I hope the Journal Sentinel considers finding someone else to express a conservative viewpoint. It should be a top priority.

I also wish McIlheran great success in Washington.

Do Brian Williams and NBC News approve of the MSNBC extremists dragging down the credibility of the NBC News brand?

UPDATE: MSNBC suspends Schultz for calling Ingraham a 'slut'

MSNBC has suspended Ed Schultz, host of the “The Ed Show,” for one week without pay for calling conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham a ‘right-wing slut’ on his syndicated radio program Tuesday.

“Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” MSNBC said in a statement.

MSNBC said Schultz will address the remarks on his show Wednesday night, and begin his leave immediately afterward. He will return on June 6th.

“MSNBC management met with Ed Schultz this afternoon and accepted his offer to take one week of unpaid leave for the remarks he made yesterday on his radio program,” MSNBC said.

MSNBC should fire Schultz.

Why would management want him to be one the main faces of the network?

MSNBC/NBC News must get its act together.

Time to purge.

Paul Ryan and Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich's run for president got off to a terrible start.

He was extremely critical of Paul Ryan on Meet the Press.

NEWT GINGRICH: I don't think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering. I don't think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.

Gingrich had to back off his remarks. He claimed he was taken out of context by "gotcha media."



It's not good that Gingrich started off his campaign with this firestorm.

Paul Ryan fired back.

"With allies like that, who needs the left?" Ryan quipped, during an interview on Laura Ingraham's radio show.

Conservatives in the media weren't the only ones shaking their heads over Gingrich's comments. At least one voter in Iowa was very angry about the way Gingrich attacked Paul Ryan. That voter had the opportunity to tell Gingrich exactly how he felt.

Andrew Breitbart was in Madison today at the Tax Day rally.

While introducing Sarah Palin, he delivers blistering comments, taking on union thug and remarkably frequent visitor to the White House, Richard Trumka.

The TV cameras showing the speech caught little of this phalanx of thugs that we had to walk through. Middle fingers flew and the trendy talking point insult of “Koch Suckers!” was everywhere. Sarah Palin was called names that made me wonder if Bill Maher was writing for this mob. Apparently, women-hating sexual mockery is acceptable if directed at the right, even if that woman’s children are present.

The Wisconsin Tea Party supporters made it all worthwhile. These are men and women who have braved a battle and come through victorious not by bullying but by being part of the silent majority willing to support tough-minded, adult decision making. The message from speaker after speaker was that Wisconsin’s example of not being intimidated by the bankrupt tactics of the left is something that all Americans need to hear.

Of course, don’t expect that message to come from the mainstream media, whose sentiments are more with the union driven threat machine than the taxpayers.

As I took to the stage, the shouting from those trying to disrupt the Tea Party intensified. Inarticulate shouting becomes their last weapon as their policies crumble. I thought of the hypocritical calls for civility amidst the dishonestly cynical opportunism of blaming Sarah Palin who shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. I thought of the smug entitlement of government workers demanding to keep their gold and benefits packages while the nation tightens its belt. I thought of the business owners and politicians being bullied in an official capacity by the unions and then actually threatened by zealots who took the union policies to their only logical conclusion.

I’m proud of what I said. I told the sanctimonious shouters promoting class warfare to go to hell.

There may be those on the left who really want civil discourse. It’s possible there are some who realize that our national debt is, in fact, out of control. There’s a chance that sane debate is the actual goal of a number of self-proclaimed liberal activists.

But I didn’t see any of those people in Madison on Saturday morning. I’m not going to pretend that I did. It was a mob, whipped up by the divider-in-chief and his cronies who live off of union dues and taxpayer funded handouts. And in case any of you in the back row missed it, I repeat – go to hell.

Breitbart is not apologizing for responding to the thugs and their tactics by saying, "go to hell."

War is hell. And as so many union bosses and other assorted Leftists, like Michael Moore, have said, "This is war." Obama and his agitators are waging class warfare.

If the union members and Leftists want to go there, that's their choice.

The list is a good summary of the Leftists' methods and madness.

One rule that I would add: Demonize conservative opponents by depicting them with a Hitler mustache.

One more: Utilize MSNBC as much as possible.
