Nadira Ramirez Speaks Out

Nadira Ramirez, mother of Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, talks to FOX News.

Yesterday, I wondered if the parents of the Kalpoe brothers would be next among the long line of relatives to be interviewed by Greta Van Susteren regarding the Natalee Holloway case.

I was kidding; but once again, truth proves to be stranger than fiction. Nadira Ramirez, mother of Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, sat down with Greta to give her side of the story.

FOX seems to be doing more to push the investigation along than Aruban authorities.

ORANJESTAD, Aruba — The mother of two brothers detained in the Natalee Holloway case acknowledged that her sons initially lied about the night of the 18-year-old's disappearance, but said it was because they were protecting another suspect.

Deepak and Satish Kalpoe first told police that they dropped off Natalee at the Holiday Inn where she was staying because they had agreed on that version of events with Joran van der Sloot, the 17-year-old also jailed in the case, said Nadira Ramirez, the Kalpoes' mother, in an exclusive interview with FOX News' Greta Van Susteren.

But Joran's mother, Anita van der Sloot, told The Associated Press on Thursday that Joran now admits to being alone with Natalee on a beach. Still, Joran denies hurting Natalee.

Ramirez said she talked to her sons about what they first told police.

"They said he's our friend and we lied to cover him," she told FOX News.

Ramirez also described what her sons told her about May 30, the day of Natalee's disappearance: Deepak, 21, and Satish, 18, picked Joran and Natalee up somewhere on Aruba after Deepak got off work at an Internet cafe. As they drove, the two brothers sat in the front seat while Natalee and Joran kissed in the back. "[Deepak] said he was getting a little upset” that they were doing that in his car, said Ramirez.

But she said her sons told her they didn't even know Natalee, who they said had been drinking that night and wasn't walking steadily.

"They don't know nothing about her. Only they know that she was with Joran. ... She didn't even introduce herself to them."

Ramirez said she didn't doubt that her boys were now telling the truth: "They always come clean with me."

After Paul van der Sloot appeared with Greta, he was arrested. Will Ramirez be next?

Natalee's father, Dave Holloway, said he believed van der Sloot and the Kalpoes held the key to his daughter's disappearance.

"These three guys cannot commit a perfect crime," he said.

Clearly, Mr. Holloway believes the Kalpoe brothers and Joran van der Sloot did commit a crime. He knows that there was foul play. Natalee didn't just run away, according to Dave Holloway.

A lot of questions remain unanswered, as the Aruban authorities fumble around and the suspects' families play to the media.

Beth Holloway Twitty, looking worn and angry, said on FOX that she is certain the three young men kidnapped Natalee. She's convinced they know what happened to her.

That may be. Who knows?

It is certain that some people know what happened and they have not cooperated in the investigation, leaving Natalee's loved ones aching for answers.
