For Your Viewing Pleasure

Thinking of taking a risk and venturing into downtown Milwaukee to take in some holiday entertainment?

There are all the traditional attractions -- A Christmas Carol, The Nutcracker, The Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival.

This year, there's another reason for Milwaukee County residents to go into the heart of the city.

A breathtaking new exhibit is on display at the Milwaukee County Courthouse!

For Immediate Release:

PORTRAITS OF COUNTY SUPERVISORS ON DISPLAY AT COURTHOUSE

Chairman invites residents, school groups to County Board lobby

Milwaukee, WI – Milwaukee County Board Chairman Lee Holloway recently unveiled a display featuring portraits of all 19 Milwaukee County Supervisors, and he’s inviting the community to visit the Courthouse to take a look.

Like many other County, State, and City governments in Wisconsin, Holloway felt it was important to put the official photographs of the County Board on display for all to see. “I invite all Milwaukee County residents to the Board of Supervisors lobby area, especially civic and youth groups interested in identifying their Supervisors and learning more about Milwaukee County government.”

The Milwaukee Common Council has similar photos on display at Milwaukee’s City Hall, including historical portraits of past Common Council Presidents, leading up to current President Willie Hines, Jr.

Chairman Holloway also believes the pictures provide a vehicle for minorities to connect with County leaders. “Our Board is made up of six African-Americans, one Hispanic-American, and five women. These pictures are an outstanding visual representation of diversity, and might inspire the young people of our community to learn more about the people from all walks of life who serve on this Board.”

The County Board portraits are accessible by the public during normal business hours, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in Room 201 of the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

Wow.

It's unfortunate that the exhibit is only accessible from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and only on weekdays.

The hours are tough on couples and families. The viewing times make it difficult for them to enjoy the display together.

I think this calls for extended hours, evenings and weekends.

Picture this:

Wouldn't it be romantic to stroll around the County leaders portrait gallery after an intimate, candle-lit dinner?

What a perfect place to get down on one knee and pop the question! Pure magic!

Wouldn't it be thrilling for parents to take their children to the Courthouse and look at photos of County Board members?

Imagine the wonder in the little ones' eyes as they gaze on their County Supervisors. A true joy!

I suppose if demand is great enough it's possible that arrangements could be made to accommodate the different schedules and desires of Milwaukee County residents.

This is big stuff.

Milwaukee County doesn't want this exhibit.

Milwaukee County needs it.
