Jimmy Carter's Pro-Palestinian Bias

Jimmy Carter likes to think of himself as a savior.

He acts as if he's the only one who's ever brokered a peace treaty in the history of the world.

Carter has been all over the place promoting his new book, and I have yet to hear him plugging it without mentioning the Camp David Accords.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. I think he believes that changed everything. Rather than being relegated to the "dustbin of history," Carter presents himself as wise, the bearer of truth, the ultimate authority on Israel and the Middle East conflict.

What a joke!

Carter was a disgrace as president and he's a disgrace now.

Today, Jimmy Carter appeared for HOURS on C-SPAN 2 with Connie Doebele. He was featured on Book TV's In Depth.

Watch the entire segment here.

One of the highlights of the mercilessly long appearance came when a caller challenged Carter on his pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli stance.

I think the caller, from Aurora, Illinois, went way over the line. Straight out of the chute, he first thanked Carter for making him a Republican, thanks to the former president's "incompetence in handling the Iranians, the stagflation."

The caller charged Carter with "cozying up with every dictator, thug, and Islamic terrorist there is.

He went on to call Carter an "anti-Semite," "a racist," and "a bigot."

Doebele cut the caller off because of the "name-calling." I think that was appropriate.

Granted, the caller phrased his remarks very poorly.

Spewing out a litany of labels and insults, however deserved, is not civil discourse.

However, after abruptly ending the call, Doebele did say, "These are the strong questions that are coming from people."

Carter wanted to defend himself.

Carter claimed that the primary goal of his career has been bringing "peace for the people of Israel," a thirty year venture.

That's interesting.

I don't see Carter's actions in recent years as being grounded in a desire to help the Israelis.

He tried to weasel his way out of the caller's accusations by misrepresenting his position.

Carter wants us to believe that he's not anti-Israel.

That's impossible to do. Carter is SO pro-Palestinian that he most definitely comes off as an advocate for the Palestinians.

During an interview with Charlie Rose last week, Carter's true colors were evident.

He acted as a PR man for the anti-Israel contingent.

He insisted that "Israel wants to confiscate Palestinian land."

He legitimized Hamas' refusal to recognize Israel's right to exist.

Carter said, "Hamas can't recognize Israel until it stays within its borders."

He even claimed that he hadn't seen any proof that Hamas was responsible for lobbing missiles at Israel.

Sorry but that's not someone who's an unbiased peace broker.

Carter doesn't seem to understand that peace can't come at the price of appeasing terrorists.

Moreover, Carter doesn't seem to understand that his Hamas buddies are terrorists.
