David Gregory: Partisan Hack

David Gregory, Chief White House correspondent for the Aljazeera bureau of the West, NBC News, is a partisan hack.

He is wading deeply into territory usually occupied by the fringe radical Left. I think it's actually possible that James Carville and Paul Begala may be editing Gregory's reports.

I expect him to start blogging on Michael Moore's site soon.

There is no question that Gregory has crossed the line as a journalist. He has become a propagandist, a Dem political operative.

MR. McCLELLAN: You know, David, there are some that are interested in playing the blame game. The President is interested in solving problems and getting help to the people who need it. There will be a time --

Q Wait a minute. Is it a blame game when the President, himself, says that we remain at risk for either another catastrophe of this dimension, that's not manmade, or a terrorist attack? Isn't it incumbent upon this administration to immediately have accountability to find out what went wrong, when at any time this could happen again?

MR. McCLELLAN: This is a massive federal response effort that we have underway. We've got to stay focused on helping those who are in need right now and help them rebuild their lives and get back up on their feet. It's a time of many challenges, enormous challenges. We've got to stay focused on the task at hand. That is what the President is doing.

Now, in terms of addressing threats, we've made a lot of progress since the attacks of September 11th. And one of the most important things we're doing is staying on the offensive abroad. There are important priorities that we have to continue to address and we are working to address those priorities, too. But we have a major disaster that has occurred over a 90,000 square mile [sic] here in the United States. There are people --

Q Right. And there are people who want to know why this government couldn't respond --

MR. McCLELLAN: Hang on. There are people who are suffering, and we've got to respond to their needs, and that's what we're going to keep our focus.

Q So no one is prepared to say what went wrong?

MR. McCLELLAN: We will look at back at the facts and we will get to the bottom of the facts and determine what went wrong and what went right. But right now --

Q Will the President support an outside investigation, or does he want to do it himself?

MR. McCLELLAN: -- but, David, right now, we've got to continue helping the people in the region.

The transcript doesn't do the exchange justice. Gregory's foaming at the mouth, rude delivery is somewhat lost in the written word, but you get the idea.

Am I taken aback by NBC assigning a Democrat shill like Gregory to be their Chief White House correspondent? Do I question NBC's wisdom in doing so?

NOOOOOOO.

NBC has picked the perfect man for its mission.

NBC Nightly News is a disgrace. Brian Williams has not only jumped on the Dems' "Destroy Bush" bandwagon; he's sitting behind the wheel with the pedal to the metal. The newscast is a thirty minute editorial.

NBC's Today has long been an oasis for the Dems to spew their vitriol without challenge. Katie Couric and Matt Lauer's true colors have been known for years. I suspect NBC maintains a Hillary Clinton dressing room at the studio, stocked with those flattering pantsuits, so she feels at home during her frequent appearances.

MSNBC is a joke. Hardball. Right. Keith Olbermann. What a journalist! MSNBC is hardly worth mentioning, given its dismal ratings, but I do so because it is part of the NBC liberal juggernaut, however minuscule.

Along with the news department, NBC entertainment is on the same anti-Bush page. The lines between its news and entertainment divisions are blurred to the point that there really is no distinction.

The network chose to defend Kanye West's comments on their telethon for the Red Cross hurricane relief effort, hosted by newsman Matt Lauer. After West went on his rant on live TV, the only editing NBC chose to do before the program aired in the Western time zones was to remove his "Bush doesn't care about black people" remark. The rest of West's anti-Bush administration race-baiting was left intact.

Even Jay Leno, considered by many to be moderate, steps into the dark side on occasion. One night in May, when Bright Eyes performed "When the President Talks to God," Leno patted Oberst on the back for his terrific performance of a song that unforgivingly blasts the U.S. president by name.

All of it fits the Peacock's liberal agenda.

Of course, it makes total sense that NBC would want a hack like Gregory to be covering the White House.

I wonder if Leno would like him to sing "When the President Talks to God" on the Tonight Show.

Probably not, but I would bet that Stretch belts out that song whenever he's taking a shower.
