McCarthy's Way

The New York Avenue street sign has been temporarily renamed as McCarthy's Way for the NFC championship game. (H. Marc Larson/Press-Gazette)

From the Green Bay Press-Gazette:
Green Bay’s New York Avenue is no more. Until Monday, that is.

Mayor Jim Schmitt officially changed the east-side street’s name to McCarthy’s Way during a brief – and frigid – ceremony this afternoon.

“We’re so proud of our Packers,” Schmitt said. “And we have a street here, New York Avenue. And to honor our coach and honor our team and have some fun with this – to change the name to McCarthy’s Way, which is the way this game is all going to go, we thought we’d do that today.”

Mike Holmgren has a street named in his honor.

Hopefully, Mike McCarthy will deserve a similar PERMANENT honor.
