It was cold, in the teens, and windy. That may seem like a heat wave compared to what's predicted for Sunday's game.
The tundra was frozen but it was really warm in the Packer Pro Shop. Sliding all those credit cards as fans purchase Packers merchandise probably heats up the place.
The Lambeau Field Atrium was relatively quiet. Milwaukee TV stations had their territory staked out. Lance Allan and Rod Burks of TMJ4 were at a table doing... I don't know what they were doing. It looked like they were waiting, like Packer fans everywhere are waiting for game day to arrive.
Standing in the wide open atrium, I imagined the mobs of bundled up fans and the noise and the excitement that will fill the place on Sunday. One more win and it's the Super Bowl. That's absolutely thrilling!
We went upstairs to Curly's Pub and had dinner. The Playoff Burger was one of the specials.
Although I won't be at Lambeau for the big game, it was nice to go there and spend some time where another chapter of Packer history is about to unfold.
When we left, we stood in the cold and the quiet for a while to admire the statues of Vince Lombardi and Curly Lambeau, dusted with snow.
Larger than life.
Looking up at Vince, in the sky just above the stadium's roof, I saw a bright half moon smiling down on Lambeau, a big shining smile.
