McGee: Press Conference

No tape.

Yes, it's taped; but no live feed.

Good grief.

On delay:

U.S. Federal Attorney Steven Biskupic said more about what he wouldn't be able to discuss than the information he actually revealed.

The criminal complaint was made public today.

The federal charges include extortion and bribery in connection with his duties as a Milwaukee alderman.

Business owners began making complaints a year ago in connection with Michael McGee's actions.

He solicited cash from multiple business owners on multiple occasions for favorable treatment on licensing matters and city services within his aldermanic district.

McGee could face 30 years in prison if convicted.

A few thoughts:

I don't understand the need to air the press conference on delay.

Does ten minutes matter?

What was the point of that?

It seems like this is the beginning of the end of Junior McGee's stint as alderman.

I knew McGee was a thug, but I didn't realize it was this bad. I gave him way too much credit.

Of course, McGee is presumed innocent, but it doesn't look good for him.

Will McGee's supporters abandon him?

I would hope so, but I doubt it.

Would McGee win a recall election with 64% of the vote today?

I think he would.

I think the city's thug culture is that pervasive. It's that dysfunctional.

I would like to hear McGee's constituents speak out against him.

I would like Mayor Tom Barrett to comment about the state of Milwaukee's government and corruption in the city.

This booking photo document provides some additional information.
Police said this morning that McGee was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Monday. A clerk at the jail today declined to release McGee's arrest and detention report for the booking saying that all information would be redacted from it.

A mug shot, however, shows that McGee was booked in on felony charges for:

* Substantial battery/intend bodily harm, party to a crime.

* Substantial battery-intend bodily harm.

* Conspiracy.

I don’t think it comes as a surprise that callers to the WNOV radio show he has been hosting, became… interesting. A lot of callers making some pretty outrageous statements, Milwaukee will burn, it is all racism, they set out to “get Jesus too” etc, etc….
