Sam Brownback Fumbles

If Senator Sam Brownback was hoping to gain support from Wisconsinites for his presidential bid, he can kiss those hopes goodbye.

At one point as he addressed the state Republican convention in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, he was booed.

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. -- Note to Senator Sam Brownback: When in Packerland, don't diss Brett Favre.

The Kansas Republican drew boos and groans from the audience at the state Republican Party convention in Lake Geneva this evening when he used a football analogy to talk about the need to rebuild the family.

He said it's fundamental blocking and tackling, like the offensive line in football.

Then he added -- quote -- "If you don't have a line, how many passes can Peyton Manning complete? Greatest quarterback, maybe, in N-F-L history."

Brownback must have forgotten where he was, or maybe he's just clueless about football.

Either way, he fumbled badly.

It's not like he couldn't mention Peyton Manning's name, but he can't suggest that Manning is the greatest quarterback in NFL history in Packer country.

Did he really forget that he was in WISCONSIN, or did he just forget to alter his analogy to please his audience?

Has he ever heard of Brett Favre?

To say that Brownback has an uphill battle in winning over Wisconsin is putting it mildly.

The
2% that he received in a recent poll may melt.

I suppose you have to give Brownback some credit for not pandering.

Who knows?

The exposure of Brownback's anti-Favre agenda may be the break that Tommy Thompson has been hoping to find.
