Four Shootings in 12 Hours

It's a good thing that all those guns were taken off the streets as part of Milwaukee's Neighborhood Safety Initiative, because there's still plenty of people relying on guns to "express themselves."

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Four people were wounded in separate shootings in the past day in Milwaukee, including a 15-year-old girl injured by another teenager when she was shot in the hand.

All of the victims survived their injuries. Milwaukee police continue to seek suspects in each case.

Detectives responded to the earliest shooting yesterday about 12:20 p.m. near N. 27th St. and W. Locust Ave., where a 27-year-old man was wounded in the back by shotgun pellets as he was running away. He is in stable condition today.

A 15-year-old girl was shot once in the left hand by a 15-year-old boy about 8:05 p.m. near N. Hopkins and W. Hampton Aves. She was treated and released, according to police.

An 18-year-old man remains hospitalized after a third shooting that came just after 10 p.m. near N. 12th and W. North Ave. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the left thigh that also went through the right thigh, police said. Police said he is in stable condition.

At 1 a.m., police said a 28-year-old man was shot in the buttocks near the 700 block of W. Locust St. He was treated and released from a local hospital, police said.

All the shootings are disturbing but I find the one involving the 15-year-old girl and boy particularly troubling.
